The owners of this intimate garden, coming from Asia, requested the creation of a place with a vaguely oriental atmosphere, which would adapt to the outdoor spaces of the house. The latter are made up of a series of intimate and cozy ‘en plein air rooms’, enclosed by walls plastered in soft colors, which define a series of highly refined environments according to the typical aesthetic canons of the oriental garden.
In the design phase, we therefore opted for a very rarefied design of the spaces and for the use of materials that would convey an impression of simple elegance.
The use of gravel and stone for the walkable areas, often highlighted by the presence of small formal hedges, underlines the division between the parts of the garden to be utilised and the areas intended for plants. The latter are used for ornamental purposes, as if they were furnishing accessories for the outdoor environments, and as color accents in places otherwise characterized by very neutral shades.
The particularly stylized nature of the areas that make up the garden, true outdoor living spaces, makes management of the plants very easy, minimizing the maintenance operations required to ensure the desired appearance of the spaces.
The presence of water, always quiet and to be admired rather than used, underlines the contemplative character of the spaces, which open one after the other in sequence. This sort of small meditative journey ends up into the rear part of the garden that opens onto the surrounding woods. Large grassy spaces underline the transition from the domestic garden, closely connected to the home, to the uncontaminated natural environment.
