Amelanchier canadensis is a large shrub with multiple qualities.
Its abundant white flowers, emitted in early spring on the still bare branches, are delicate and elegant.
The fruits from which they develop are similar to blueberries and persist for months on the branches, very pleasing to birds but in reality very tasty also for men.
The leaves turn yellow and orange in autumn, making the Amelanchier a beautiful ‘accent’ in the garden.
Rarely can so many qualities be found in a single plant.
